    Hi,

    Professor Pinto,

You have raised very important points (from the Verizon Data Breach report);this is precisley the kind of insight which stakeholders in this space would like to see/understand in this document.

Please go ahead and add more comments as you feel fit.

    Thanks!

Ashish, I think this is an important document. I've gone through half of it, and peppered it with comments and suggestions. I could go through the rest, but I'd like to know that I'm adding useful stuff. Meanwhile, I also sent the links to the co-Chairs of the Object Management Group's Blockchain SIG and Healthcare Task Force.

A couple of things strike me: first, this was probably compiled from multiple authors, who each tended to restate the same things, such as (a) security or privacy issues are crucial, (b) what blockchain is. So the document is full of redundancies. Secondly, probably for the same reason, some sections keep going back and forth between the use case and the technology aspects, repeating each (in different words) multiple times. Lots of editing is required wherever this happened, and I didn't want to replace entire large sections with new text (nor did i have the time to do it now), but it needs to be addressed to make the paper both clearer and more concise.

Another, perhaps more fundamental issue, is that blockchain is just one type of DLT. I see nothing in the paper that says that blockchain is the sole logical choice over other DLTs such as tangles. I added a sentence to introduce DLTs and say that blockchain is one of them, but this raises the question whether the document should refer to "distributed ledger" or "DLT" instead of "blockchain" throughout. Was that considered by the team that put this paper together?

Going back to the flow of the document, it seems that in each area of application (research, supply chain, finance...) the exposition of the use case is vague, devoid of concrete examples, and strewn around the section, interspersed with restatements of what blockchain is and does. It would probably be better to clearly separate (a) the use case or challenge, (b) exactly what a blockchain would store and how it would be used, (c) the resulting benefit. That logical progression of ideas is not evident at all in most sections.

Can you or your co-authors tell me if what I've entered in the document so far, as well as these remarks, are useful or not?

    Thanks,
