It looks like the House of Representatives passed a FedRAMP Authorization Act today. This will reform FedRAMP and will make Authorization across Federal government agencies easy by promoting reciprocity for Security Validations from one agency to another.

It will also require GSA to automate assessments and continuous monitoring to speed up FedRAMP process. My take is this is to make FedRAMP easier to get for industry, which however would mean more competition for us in the UI.

A bill to codify and fund the program that authorizes and continuously monitors cloud services across government became the first to pass the House in 2021 on Tuesday. Rep. Gerry Connolly, D-Va., once again put forward The Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) Authorization Act, which would also require agencies to reuse authorized cloud services when practical.
