    Hi All,

"Risk! Risk is our Business!" Captain James T. Kirk; U.S.S Enterprise - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ErkeFA-QWk

We need your feedback! Join our biweekly meetings to help shape the new Ground Segment Cybersecurity Framework Profile

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE) plans to create a Cybersecurity Framework Profile for the ground segment. The purpose of this COI is to get commercial user input to build a draft profile that will then be posted for public comment. NIST has developed a white paper as a basis for beginning these discussions.

The focus of the profile will be command and control of a satellite bus and the command and control of payloads that are hosted on an independent organization's bus. We have divided the document into five sections for your convenience.

The sections may be accessed via the links below:

    • Front Matter
    • Identify Function
    • Protect Function
    • Detect Function
    • Respond and Recover Function

The document is divided into smaller sections to lighten the burden on the COI participants. It has been my experience that modifications early in a document will have 'downstream effects' therefore it is more efficient to focus on one section at a time.
We have a large community of interest, and it is likely that we will have diverse and possibly conflicting comments. We welcome your expertise and insight in this matter and have created a comment resolution matrix to capture your thoughts and questions. NIST will host a series of biweekly virtual meetings via MS Teams. The purpose of the meetings will be to resolve comments and provide clarification. The meetings will run under "Chatham House" rules (comments will not be attributed from the conversations).
The meetings will take place every other Thursday at 10:00 Eastern time (14:00 UTC) starting next Thursday (September 23). Please feel free to attend as many or as few of these meetings as you are able to.

    See full schedule below:
    • Front Matter (23 SEP 2021)
    • Identify Function (03 OCT 2021)
    • Protect Function (21 OCT 2021)
    • Detect Function (04 NOV 2021)
    • Respond and Recover Functions (19 NOV 2021)
    • Wrap up (02 DEC 2021)

If you are interested in participating in the biweekly meetings, please send an email to [email protected] to be added to the team and sent the calendar invites.

Michael, I just have to say – as someone who adores cybersecurity but hasn't seen any Star Trek (gasp) ... well-placed (and great) link! 👍
