    For anyone familiar with the quantum-safe security space, this announcement has been 6 years in the making. NIST has selected four encryption algorithms that will become part of NIST's post-quantum cryptographic standard which is expected in about 2 years.
    There are 4 more are still under consideration to be included in the standard, but there isn't a clear date about when those results will be announced. Full details regarding NIST's announcement can be found here.
