Details - Metrics That Matter
Speaker: Gary Sheehan, Director of Information Security at Elon University

Session Abstract: How do you know your cloud architecture is providing the services you promised to your constituents? Are you able to determine that your cloud service providers are meeting their contractual obligations and service level agreements? Are you able to monitor your cost of service across your cloud providers? Have your risks increased as a result of using cloud services, and if so, are they still within acceptable ranges? Are your current metrics aligning with your ever-changing business goals? Is anybody looking at the metrics your currently create? Do you feel it is even worth collecting all this data? Who really cares?

There are so many questions that can be asked or considered when trying to identify and develop metrics for any situation. For security and IT professionals who are managing cloud services that provide business solutions, it becomes event harder to determine what information is needed to ensure you are meeting goals. But whose goals are your meeting?

During this session, Gary will lead a discussion that will help you determine your strategy for cloud metric reporting – hopefully. 😊

Speaker bio: Gary is a good guy and knows stuff. He likes short walks to the refrigerator and cold beer. He can often be found sitting on his back porch or floating in a kayak with Stella Artois.
