Introduce Yourself

  • 1.  Introduce Yourself

    Posted Sep 03, 2020 09:50:00 AM
    Hello Everyone!

We looked forward to connecting with everyone in person this year at SECtember but since we can't chat it up in the hallway between sessions that doesn't mean we can't introduce ourselves here!

Please share a little about yourself. We'd love to know:

    • Where you are from
    • What you do for work
    • A great piece of advice you received from a mentor/colleague
    • What you are most excited for during the SECtember Experience webinar series

Looking forward to hearing from you all and connecting in this new way!

    Kind regards,

I'll start. I'm from Graham, Washington. I am the Marketing Coordinator at CSA. A great piece of advice I received from a colleague is "Slow is steady and steady is fast."

I'm most excited for SECtember webinar, "Collaborating for Inclusion & Equality in Cybersecurity" on September 22.

Hello everyone! I'm from Ferndale, Washington and am the Website Content Coordinator here at CSA. One of the best pieces of advice I've received is to focus on doing a few things really well. It's advice I'm still working on applying, but good nevertheless!

I'm particularly excited for the presentation "Panel: Pandemic & Beyond: Migrating to Cloud Securely" as our fearless leader, Jim Reavis, will be presenting at this session!

    Jaclyn,

Thanks for getting us all connected.

I am originally from Buffalo, NY but Boston, MA has been home for the last 3 decades.  I am the Sr Account Executive at CSA and proud to be a part of the CSA community.

One of the best pieces of advice that has always stuck with me is always tell the truth and you never have to remember anything!

I am excited at the Thought Leadership and educational content that will be a part of the SECtember Experience.  I have had an opportunity to work closely with our team on the program and I am confident you will be as excited as I am.   I am happy to chat with anyone who has questions on this program or any of the other programs at CSA.

Can't wait to hear all about each of you!

    Hello Everyone!

I'm from Bellingham, Washington. I am a Corporate Membership Manager here at the CSA.

The best advice I got was from my mom who always said "Good things come to those who wait..."

I'm looking forward to hearing Starbuck's CISO Andy Kirkland's presentation on "Risk Appetite and the Alignment of Cybersecurity with Business Agility. Are you Hungry?" Yes, I am Andy!

    All the best,

    Hi all

I am from Australia, however most of my career has been in Europe /UK.  I am a senior security architect and the CEO of Trac-Car.  A piece of advice I got at the age of 16 was 'The slowest in making a promise is the most faithful in its performance" - a great piece of wisdom from Rousseau, an 18th century French speaking Swiss philosopher.

Looking forward to a diverse set of presentations on the wide range of security related topics for SECtember.  My webinar Cloud Migration Infrastructure Security Guide has not yet been recorded, however you are welcome to download.

Thank you for creating this virtual hallway, Jaclyn!

Hey everyone. I am from Seattle, Washington. I am a Membership Manager at CSA with the mission to ensure that our members are fully connected with the benefits they receive through membership and the community CSA has stewarded over the years.

One of the best pieces of advice I heard was "fail fast and fail hard". Coincidentally, a quote that popped up on one my dashboards today read "success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts." Both of these seem to compliment each other nicely!

I'm very excited to hear "Collaborating for Inclusion and Equality in Cybersecurity" on the 22nd.

    Hello All,

I'm from Salt Lake City, UT. I've worked at a security vendor for the past 14 years and been in software for 20+. I've recently co-founded a storage security company focused on object storage. I'm the CTO there. A piece of advice I was given was around understanding the nature of things and what to expect. "Water always seeks its own level." There are many things this can apply to and I've seen them firsthand. Understanding that will give you long term views and understanding.

Have appreciated SECtember so far, it has been great.

It always surprises me how small a world it really is. That is validated almost daily.

I didn't grow up here, but have lived here now for 20 years. My wife went to Hillcrest.

    Thanks for reaching out!
