Nordic Global's SOC is growing and we are hiring remote entry level (or higher) Security Analysts. We are a cloud native Healthcare IT company with a security-first mindset. Come work with us and learn what a modern, multi-cloud SOC looks like. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to break into the industry or an experienced analyst looking to work with a modern tool chain (Sentinel, Defender, Azure/AWS).

Here is more information on the position.

    Hi Ben,

You said entry level on your post but the job description requests 2 years of experience.

This language is discussed quite a bit on Reddit.  Companies will say entry level but then ask for 2+ years of experience, and this can cause confusion and frustration for new people trying to enter the world of cybersecurity.  I'd also add that it says "Experience running a Security Operation Center", which seems more manager-level along with many other skills and experiences in the job posting.

Hi Ross - agree there are inconsistencies with the job posting as it stands. We'll work on getting it updated to better reflect our desire to consider entry level candidates. Certainly not expecting "Experience running a Security Operation Center" for someone trying to break into the industry!

Thank you Ben for adding some clarification. After reading this last message, I've decided to apply. I think this is a great sector of CyberSecurity Analyst being health care.

I've been trying to break into security from Cloud since Nov 2021 after finishing a bootcamp with Secure-Set (FlatIron Schools). It's a very ambiguos market even for people experienced in IT and Cloud.

Agree that the linked posting is for a more experienced hire but we will consider true entry level candidates (just out of school, retraining, etc). I encourage you to apply if you are interested.

    Hi Ben,
I absolutely do not want to bash on your job post, and I understand that sometimes there can be frustrating experiences with job search platforms (e.g., if you do not specify better on LinkedIn, it will add "entry level" to a job post, even when it really is not) as communication breakdowns with HR departments, etc.

Just kindly consider that this kind of post is, by their nature, very gatekeeping.  It has been scientifically proven, that male candidates will apply to job posts when they do not meet all their requirements (sometimes down to meeting less than 40% of them); women, instead, tend not to apply even if they do not meet only part of them (they need to match more than 80% of the requirements).

By writing a post with many requirements and saying "yes, there are contradicting requirements, but it is not essential, just apply anyway, we will consider you", you are being very masculine.

You can also check your ad on Internet tools like this: http://gender-decoder.katmatfield.com/results/ae00ceda-262d-42ea-a225-fc7ca9884888

Hopefully, this can help you (and your company's recruiting/HR) department to be more inclusive.

Again, not bashing on the job post at all, and it is great you are hiring! It is just a suggestion. I am sure your company is great to work for.

    Have a lovely day!

@Jonathan Bowker  and @Ross Kovelman  make good points. @Ben Uphoff  it's good to clarify exactly what you would like.

It's not uncommon for people to mix up an opportunity for someone's first dedicated security role and a true no experience needed entry level role.

Happy to help on this if you like.

    Hello Ben,

I am currently a IT Analyst and majored in cybersecurity, also coordinating with our Security Team for some Security Incident project. Due to budget issue, the company decided to get rid of the security team, this is awful experience, I still want to pursuit my cybersecurity career, but I'm always hitting to the wall, always getting rejection. I would like to express my interest regarding your post, I have some experience in Sentinel One, security Incident, aside of that, I am also participating some CTF challenge on HacktheBox. If you would considering me, you can contact me at [email protected]

Thank you for reading and consideration.
