Delighted to moderate the panel discussion on "Cloud Native: The Good, the Bad & the Ugly" @
GovWare (on 20 Oct 2022). The current understanding of Cloud Native is akin to the proverbial 'Blind Men & the Elephant', a famous Indian fable that tells the story of six blind sojourners that come across different parts of an elephant in their life journeys. In turn, each blind man creates his own version of reality from that limited experience & perspective. Today, some refer to cloud native to specific Technologies like microservices, serverless computing, containers, etc while others argue it is about Processes like DevOps, DevSecOps, CD/CI, yet others focus on People & culture. With the elephant in the room, three wise men sought to address the following points: what cloud native really is about; benefits of going cloud native; downsides; & unknowns (e.g. security issues,...). They were Dr. Aditya Sood (Senior Director of Threat Research & Security Strategy, Office of the CTO, F5), Lawrence Crowther (Head of Solutions Engineering, Snyk) & Zhihao Tan (Director, Solution Architects - APJ, Aqua Security).
