Data Security Working Group Meeting - 3/27/25

    Data Security Publications:

    Development:

    • Data security within an AI Environment - Q2 2025
      • Continued development of remaining sections, utilize AI to find content gaps in paper and assist with data controls context of Data Security and Privacy Lifecycle Management controls (DSP01-24) from AI Controls MatrixIncluding privacy enhancing technologies, confidential/sensitive data, and PII in LLMs subtopics.

    Proposed:

    Meeting Summary:

    CSA Summits and New Projects:

Chat GPT 4.0 Image Generation Demo:

    • Alex demonstrated the capabilities of the Chat GPT 4.0 model by generating stylized images of a black cat on a Seattle Pikes Market puzzle, a cyberpunk market scene, and a dog with blue and green eyes with a detailed background. He showed how the model can produce detailed and realistic images with various styles, including Pixar and Studio Ghibli, as many are currently sharing examples of online. Alex also experimented with different backgrounds and textures, and found the model to be quite accurate in its representations. He encouraged others to try out the model and explore its capabilities.

    AI Data Security Paper Progress:

    • Alex discussed the progress on a paper about data security within an AI environment, combining three main subtopics and providing context for the AI controls matrix. The team agreed to refine the document, focusing on sections that need more detail. They also discussed the document's accessibility, with Adeeb offering to make changes. Vashti suggested Alex should log in to show his name instead of appearing as anonymous.

    Polish Content for Detailed Sections:

    • Alex suggested that the team should focus on making the content of each section more detailed and polished, even if it's not perfect. He emphasized the importance of having solid content in each section before sharing it with peers. Vashti agreed and pointed out a disconnect between the framework and the regulations section. She suggested removing the duplicate list of regulations at the bottom.

    Project Organization and AI Tools:

    • Alex and Vashti discussed the organization and content of their project. They decided to move certain elements to improve the flow and clarity of the material. Vashti took on the task of creating a table to break up the content and make it more visually appealing. They also discussed the need for a better way to describe certain aspects of their project, with Vashti agreeing to clean up the language. They also touched on the use of AI tools to assist in the project, with Vashti expressing interest in using the AI shared responsibility model.

    Project Progress and Content Organization:

    • Alex and Vashti discussed the progress of their project, focusing on the need for content and organization. They decided to assign sections that were incomplete and lacking content, with the aim of pushing it to a peer review. They also discussed the potential use of AI to help with mapping and the need for relevant content in the bullet points and headers. Rocco, who joined the meeting late, agreed with the plan and offered to contribute during his camping trip, using his Starlink.

    Data Security Focus Over Regulations:

    • Alex and Rocco discussed the relevance of a list of categories and regulations to their work. They agreed that the list was not particularly useful and decided to strike it out. They also discussed the importance of data security and the need to focus on it rather than the specific regulations. Rocco suggested that a paragraph explaining the impact of data security on all industries and verticals would be more effective. Vashti agreed to create such a paragraph.

    Document Formatting and Content Discussion:

    • Alex and Rocco discussed the formatting and content of a document. They considered reworking the document to a different style or format, possibly using paragraphs instead of bullet points. They also discussed the placement of certain elements within the document. They agreed that the document looked good and was complete, but they left the option open for further adjustments.

    Mapping Paper to Controls Discussed:

    • Alex and Rocco discussed the focus of their paper, which is to provide context to the controls within the paper. They considered two approaches: either adding context to the existing controls or mapping their paper to the controls. They agreed that the paper should be data-centric and provide more information than what the controls offer. They also discussed the possibility of separating the control categories. However, they acknowledged that it might not be possible to map their paper to the controls.
