  • 1.  How to get experience in Cloud Security as an IAM expert

    How to get experience in the cloud security domain?

    I have experience with commercial IAM products like Ping/Okta but not with any specific Cloud IAM products like AWS/GCP/Azure.

    Please can you guide me with training/courses and how to get industry experience using cloud security products?

    Each CSPs( AWS/Azure/GCP) has their respective native IAM ecosystems to provision fine grained access controls for workloads and humans . Most of them follow standard industry patterns such as  Zero  Trust , ABAC/RBAC  etc with varying degree of implementations across their respective ecosystems . Some of the CSPs even provide  tooling for multi cloud IAM to  provide necessary flexibility to their customer .  Each of the provider has respective security specialty certification , where the delve into IAM to a greater details 

    AWS Certified Security - Specialty

    Microsoft Certified: Cybersecurity Architect Expert

    Professional Cloud Security Engineer ( GCP)

    In addition to this, you can also eventually look for certifications for Azure - SC 300. That would be specifically for IAM in azure.

    Thank you all for your suggestion. I have already considered this certification but issue is finding the job without experience in this cloud security products. How would I get the job without commercially using this product?

    You could enroll in A Cloud Guru / Pluralsight to access a comprehensive library of cloud training and hands-on labs. It's a great platform to strengthen your knowledge and map concepts to real-world industry problems, or even simulate enterprise Cloud IAM implementations in a lab environment.

    In addition, here are some free resources to build solid foundational knowledge in Cloud IAM across major platforms:

    Thanks Ramesh for your suggestions. I am not getting interview calls with just training sand certifications completion even though they all have hands on lab replicating real world scenario.

    Hi Shailesh,

    In your original post, you mentioned about certifications and industry experience. 

    People have suggested you various certifications to start in cloud but to gain real industry experience, you need to find an employer that is using traditional IAM products and Cloud IAM for their business needs. If you are looking for job in Cloud IAM only then it will be hard for you to find a job without real experience.  You will always find clients using both traditional IAM products and Cloud IAM for their needs.
