indeed i got the reminder yesterday and I started reviewing some. There were 42 and I'm on it (although I don't think I'll be able to go over all of them).

@John M  we are always looking for proposals that are apropos with the times, especially emerging trends.  BUT, we want to be sure that the author is able to provide a quality experience for our audience.  If you feel like something is not right or fishy, then please rate the submission with that gut feeling.    I value your honest opinion and expertise, so please do not hesitate to rate something low.  The Executive team will review the top submissions and make decisions from there.

I've noticed several trends lately in proposal reviews (both here and in other organizations).

1. Proposal spamming: a contributor with few or no credentials submits multiple proposals on divergent topics...apparently hoping that one or two might find a home.  I absolutely enjoy seeing emergent talent and expertise but in my experience this type of submission leads to content-empty presentations.

2. Professional proposal authoring: a contributor hires an agent or agency to write the proposal and fails to disclose that hire.  I'm all in favor of getting training in public speaking but this is a bit shady.  It also leaves us reviewers in the position of not being able to properly gauge the capabilities of the future speaker.

Melissa, can you pile on here with CSA's view on these topics?
