Subject: The Rainbow Series - a little known piece of Cyber Security history.
When email and the Internet were only the purview of Government and Academia; before the Web was created, the National Security Agency (NSA) created the National Computer Security Center (NCSC). One of the primary missions was to create standards and guidance for what we now call Cyber Security. It was decided to make each document colorful so it would not get lost on a bookshelf. These works have become the foundation of much of what we use today like the NIST Publications, ISO Standards, CIS Controls, and the DISA STIGS.
Digital copies are available through NIST and can be found here.
Kudos to NSA Cybersecurity Collaboration Center for pushing out this piece of history.
