Title: They know what you did!
Five thousand data points, that’s how much information the data brokers have on each individual. Based on just sixty-eight Facebook 'likes' an individual user collected, Facebook could predict your skin color, sexual orientation, political party affiliation, plus drug and alcohol use.
These predictions are then put into algorithms that impact the college our kids go to, whether or not you are selected to interview for a job, how much you pay for insurance, and if you can purchase a car or a house. They also ensure as much application engagement as possible – squeezing out every moment of our day and night.
Companies are the ones collecting and analyzing our personal data and they are the only ones who actually know how and why they are using it. It’s not just Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, and Google anymore, almost every company has joined the race to collect as much data about us as they possibly can. But here’s a couple of questions, are they using it for your good or their profits? And, do they care if their use of our data is harming our children, parents, brothers, and sisters?
